We were informed yesterday (Wednesday) of a delay in receiving the new controller. The manufacturer is replacing the unit at no cost, but it will take another week or two for it to come in. With the City of Calgary’s announcement regarding water restrictions reverting to Stage 4 as of August 26th, it unfortunately does not look like we will be able to re-open the spray park this year.
We understand this is frustrating. Once the part is in, we will be able to test the system before shutting it down completely, in hopes of having a better start to next year’s season.
In the week since our last update about the spray park, we have continued to actively work towards finding solutions to get it back up and running.
As of this morning, a replacement part has been sourced and ordered. Once received, it will be installed and the system tested. We are hopeful that by the end of next week we will have the spray park up and running again. Every effort will be made to have it operating as soon as possible.
We know how disappointing this has been. We are also aware that hearing that we are working on it isn’t offering any consolation. Updates will be provided as tangible information is available to us, so we can keep you informed. We really appreciate your patience.
Please watch for further email updates, which will also be available on our website.
A technician has been out and a new part has been ordered in hopes of resolving the issues with the spray park. The spray park is closed but we aim to have the system back up as soon as possible. Any updates will be posted here.
We know how much the kids love the spray park and how disappointing it is to find it not working. The mechanical & technical issues with the system that we have inherited are proving to be challenging, and we are doing all we can to keep it running and to find ways to make it more reliable. In speaking with other communities with the same system, this seems to be a shared experience, but we are hopeful that we have found a solution.
There have been suggestions through email and social media about communicating real-time updates via our website or even mass email, but until today that has not been possible for several reasons. The outages experienced have been random in frequency, and inconsistent. The length of downtime is not known in advance as some had relatively quick fixes, and others did not. None of them were planned, as the system is programmed to run between the hours of 9am and 9pm with only minor disruptions required to rebalance chemicals, which cannot always be timed as they fluctuate based on level of usage, amount of direct sunlight and temperature.
The contractor will be back early tomorrow morning. If there is a delay, we will advise as quickly as we are aware with an update on our website and social media. We are truly hopeful that the majority of the issues we have been experiencing will be resolved by tomorrow, and will communicate as efficiently as possible.
Every effort has and continues to be made to have the much-loved spray park working properly, and we thank you for your patience.
We are waiting for the AHS inspection to be confirmed. We are hoping to be able to open ahead of the June 15th schedule. Check our website and Facebook regularly for more updates!
