Town Hall

Thursday September 25th from 7-9PM
The CHOA will be hosting a Town Hall to discuss the spray park amenity. This is an opportunity for discussion and feedback, and we invite all residents to attend. We
will follow a brief agenda (Introductions and Housekeeping, Spray Park recap and update, Question and Answer/Open floor) to help pass on information that needs to be shared, and then open the floor to questions and comments. Please keep in mind that there will be no formal decisions made, or votes taken.

No RSVP is needed for the Town Hall. We hope to see you there!

If you are unable to attend, our goal will be to have the minutes/summary of all feedback (google form and in person commentary) circulated by the following Thursday, October 2nd.

Special Resolution update

August 14, 2025:

Thank you to all of the members that voted and/or attended the Special Resolution meeting yesterday. We received a combined total of 252 votes cast, 63% in favour of the motion (159 votes in favour, and 93 against). Our bylaws indicate that a Special Resolution requires 75% of the votes received to be in favour, and as such the motion failed.

We encourage all residents to reach out to us at any time by email at admin@crestmonthall.com or in person at the office, with questions, concerns or constructive comments/suggestions.

Frequently Asked Questions

We have received many questions over email and Facebook regarding the CHOA and its operations. You can access a document with the most asked questions here. We plan to update this document regularly with answers to more questions that we receive. We encourage all residents to reach out to the office directly at admin@crestmonthall.com with questions and concerns.

ELM vs CHOA Operations

The CHOA has put together a document outlining ELM landscaping on City property and day to day CHOA operations. The document can be found here

June 23, 2025: Construction Update

We received the attached update from Homes by Avi/Whissell Contracting regarding a traffic closure for the east end of west Valley Road, effective June 25th for approximately 8 weeks.

This is to finish the utility installations in that area for Osprey Hills phase 1, and is the same set up as last year where the temporary access from 109th street will be utilized to access the climbing center and Victory Church.

It appears that there will be higher volumes in the southern traffic circle, but there should be minimal (if any) disruption to Crestmont.

Restoration of East Storm Pond Fountain Amenity

The CHOA Board of Directors had approved, and budgeted for, a replacement fountain in the East storm pond in early 2024. We were, unfortunately, unable to put that amenity in place due to City of Calgary water restrictions. This year your Board is pleased to announce that the new fountain has been purchased ($17,728) and is expected to be installed this spring, pending approval of the licenses required by the City of Calgary.

Our General Manager submitted the request early, and received feedback that Crestmont should be one of the first licenses approved this year. This process falls entirely within the City of Calgary’s scope and as we know more, we will share details. Please note, there will be no additional cost burden to members for this amenity, as the funds that had been allocated to the capital purchase were carried over into the 2025 fiscal year. Although the annual maintenance costs ($8000) associated with the fountain were not included in the operating budget for 2025, reserve funds will be allocated towards them, and will be an operating cost for budgeting going forward.

Game Night Update

Game night will resume in September. Please revisit our website for more updates. Enjoy the summer!

Questions about who is responsible for what

We know that there are many questions surrounding which organization is responsible for what. We will be creating a detailed document to provide a clear breakdown. The CHOA, CCA, and City of Calgary websites each provide details about their individual responsibilities.

Questions for the CHOA should be directed to admin@crestmonthall.com.

Questions for the CCA should be directed to info@crestmontcommunity.org.

Questions for the City of Calgary should be directed to 311.

While the CHOA Board welcomes questions, conversations and engagement with our members, we do expect that such interactions with volunteers, staff, and all other members generally, be respectful. To that end the Board has adopted an anti-harassment policy that is posted below. Thank you for helping make our community a pleasant and cooperative one.
