Storm Pond Information Session - November 25 at 6:00pm - POSTPONED
The City of Calgary has postponed the information until further notice. Please call 311.
From the City of Calgary Water Services:
Crestmont Stormwater Pond Sediment Removal Project has begun. Stormwater washes away from our rooftops, driveways, lawns, streets and sidewalks and through our communities into storm drains, collecting dirt, gravel and other pollutants along the way. Storm ponds capture and hold stormwater, slowing its flow down long enough to settle out sediments and pollutants, helping return cleaner water to our rivers and streams.
For the past 18 years, The Crestmont Stormwater Pond has been working well, accumulating sediment and debris which now needs to be removed. The removal of this sediment will reduce potential environmental impacts downstream, and restore the treatment (storage) capacity, which is especially critical during intense storm events.
Draining the pond by way of gravity and then pumps is taking place over the next several weeks. From December to March the removal of approximately 10,000 cubic meters of sediments will commence.
An information session is scheduled for November 25, 2016 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Crestmont Residents' Hall. City of Calgary Water Services staff and the consultant conducting the sediment removal will be available to answer your questions and to provide detailed project information.
